Marijuana regulations are being requested!
Thank you to the Pediatrician Doctors in Ann Arbor, Michigan who are speaking up: more regulations are needed for marijuana dispensaries! And this is before any type of recreational marijuana is made legal. Read this story:
ANN ARBOR, MI – Pediatricians concerned that marijuana can be harmful to adolescent health and development are trying to convince Ann Arbor to place stricter limits on dispensaries.
Gregory Yanik, a pediatric oncologist at the University of Michigan’s C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor, said there’s a common voice among pediatricians in the community.
Joined by several of his colleagues at Thursday night’s City Council meeting, Yanik told council members the potential neurocognitive effects of marijuana on children are real.
“The potential effects to a fetus from a pregnant woman who’s using cannabis are real,” he added. “The potential effects to a young child of a nursing mother who’s using cannabis are real. This is an agent that is highly fat soluble, meaning that its uptake into the brain, into breastmilk, into a fetus are real.”
Michigan Doctors are very important to our communities. It is important that we listen.
